Confinement…

i recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl. she’s an early arrival…induced at 36weeks however she’s healthy and relatively heavy for her age so…i guess its OK *pondering* unlike my 1st child, i had it ….well you can say easy altho my boy was delivered via forceps thanks to the invention of epidural…i didn’t have any side effects like what most people claim. i’m glad! this time tho’ its not tat simple… i was induced and i had the worse 20minutes ever while they try to break my waterbag.
soon after i was transfered to the labor room. i took epidural as usual coz i don’t think that i can handle the pain…argh~ i’m not that strong….and apparently that hospital change their meds brands or what ever on yearly basis…it was 2 years since i gave birth to my son…now they had a so called ‘NEW & IMPROVED’ epidural. the administration of it took some time as they have to bius /numb my skin?spine? or what ever…they have to jap me twice with i’m not sure what…the dr said its a local bius the they administer the epidural. yeah i had the ichiness but i also have rashes which appears only on my face after giving birth! the worse part is that i’m not sure if the epidural even help with the pain coz i can still feel the tremendous pain. i feel that i’ve just wasted a good RM500 for the epidural…*sigh in regret*
all in all it was faster this time..maybe its bcoz its my second child…this time i’ll be spending my confinement days at my inlaw’s
In a malay culture, during the confinement days the new mother should or rather must under go a massage ritual and ber-’tungku’ (hot stone massage). it is believed that this is to revived back all the weaken mussles caused by the delivery and the most important thing is to make sure the uterus shrink back to its normal size. it is also most beneficial for those who have problem with breast milk – lacking of breast milk.
i personally have that problem..but after a few sessions of massages it improves my milk flow. my only problem now is that my daughter is so used to the bottle nipples now that she refuse to drink directly from me.
one should also be cautious with what they eat during this period. it is said that what ever we eat, it’ll translate into the milk and will give a certain effect to the baby at the end of the day. for example, any food with coconut milk/santan is said to be able to cause wind/colic to baby.* i wonder if this is ever true*
if you ask me i personally don’t believe in this.cos most people (in the malay culture) believe that one cannot eat spinach as it is ‘cold’ in nature. but medically, it will improve the quality of breast milk. so my million dollar question…”how’s that?” which should we believe?
in all the many believes…i do however believe that one should NEVER eat/drink ICE/cold food or water during confinement…
why you ask? coz it somehow slow down your slimming process. this, i’m talking based on experience. i took cold drink and it took me almost a year to get my shape back!
this time i’ll be doing stictly NO ICE or COLD DRINKS & FOOD….
oh the American idol give back is on now…i’m looking forward to watching carrie underwood…so c ya!
here’s my baby girl
