Chocolate Must Know : Tip for Tad

are you a chocolate fan?? i know i am…then again i never met anyone who hates chocolate so i supposed everyone loves chocolate *day dreaming about the chocolate aroma and that…*

ahhh~ chocolate wonderful feel good comfort food chocolate…simply gives you that wonderful ‘loving’ feeling…its good anyway you like it, as a perfect snack when you’re feeling indulgent ah chocolate never dissapoint!

So if you’re true chocolate lover…here’s some tips you should know so next time around you’ll be an expert!

This is a Chocolate test : (simply to know if the quality of the chocolate)

  1. 1st note how the chocolate snaps. A good chocolate should break cleanly with minimal crumbling.
  2. then pop a piece in your mouth, it should :-
  • melt in your mouth with of course minimum chewing
  • then as it melts in your mouth you should feel the silky smooth texture and have that lasting finish somewhat bittersweet and somewhat sour (depending on the chocolate ratio/%) if the texture is less than silky (like grainy) or oily and your immidiate reaction is “blagh” (in other words it irritates your palate) that my friend is the sign of inferior quality chocolate.

3.       then the storage: keep well in a cool place AWAY from direct sunlight! (temp around 18c – 21c) then your chocolate will maintain their form and taste. Refrigerating is a HUGE NO NO (but chilling is Ok as long its in the requied temperature) as there may be separation of componants in the chocolate thus dulling the appearance.

So now you know…next time when you’re buying from the chocolatier you’ll know what you’re looking for.

Teppanyaki Salmon Recipe

Teppanyaki Salmon

1 pc Salmon steak – you can buy it at the supermarket (Carrefour or Coldstorage)

4tbs sweet soy

1 pinch of sugar

a generous dash of black pepper

chopped garlic lots and lots of it! (the more the better)

4tbs butter

another 4tbs of butter (if you like more sauce you can just double it)

methods:-

  1. marinade the salmon steak with the sweet soy sauce and black pepper for at least 1hr (the longer the better.
  2. melt butter and add a little bit of olive oil  this will prevent the butter from burning. then fry the garlic until golden brown. set aside the garlic.
  3. place the salmon in to the pan with the melted butter. let it be for about 3 minutes or less (please use medium heat) turn over the salmon carefully when you see that the salmon meat didn’t stick to the pan.  let it sit for another 3 minutes then set the salmon a side.
  4. for the gravy: add in the 4tbs butter into the salmon’s butter, pour in about 2tbs of sweet soy and a dash of sugar. stir then set aside.
  5.  serve salmon on a plate then garnish with the fried garlic, pour the butter sauce on to the salmon.

wallah teppanyaki salmon…actually the original recipe would include mirin & sake (mirin ni usually tak halal ada alcohol) so this is the altered recipe…simple and Halal not to mention equally Y.U.M.M.Y!

Cookie jar mishaps

arghhhh~ i’m sooo pissed…my beautifully baked cookies (from yesterday) is now not crunchy anymore…dah masuk angin uwaaaaaa~ sedey sedey…i woke up this morning and was looking for breadfast then i saw the cookie jar and i thought ‘i’ll just have cookies for breakfast…why not’ then i reach for the jar and grab the cookies and have the taste of it….and what do i find?? a stale cookie…*longsigh~*

well actually it didn’t taste that bad after all, yes its gone soft on me but the taste i still scrumptious exactly like a soft cookie should be…how great is that…*sudden frown* but it just that i’m craving for the crunchy not to mention homebaked cookies (wouldn’t want you smart a**** say i could just buy from the store and problem solved) as a food lover with exceptionally sweet tooth, i’d say there’s a huge difference between homebaked and store bought cookies.(this may apply to most of the food) its the joy of baking and then eating it, the thrill of watching it coming together and not to mention the extremely tempting aroma that gives the extra zest!  arghhh~ what am i babbling do you understand what i’m babbling about? i’m just upset coz i’ve been craving for cookies for sometime now and then finally have the time to make some. but at least i did had tha brief moment a taste of the crunchy double chocolate cookies…just wish i could still have some…

i think i can still fix this at least i think i can…its the oldest trick in the book, i’ll just have to re-bake the cookies!! i hope this works….i better go and get started now…so signing off for now…
